Our dentists may recommend an ARESTINĀ® antibiotic treatment to combat gum disease and begin the process of restoring your oral health. Antibiotic treatment, also known as antimicrobial therapy, is often an excellent treatment option for periodontal disease. It may be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other periodontal treatments to improve your oral health.

If it is determined that an ARESTIN antibiotic gum treatment will benefit you, our dentists will most likely perform scaling and root planing to clear away plaque and tartar from your mouth. In more severe cases, your antibiotic therapy may be preceded by gum surgery. The antibiotic medicine will then be placed directly into the infected periodontal pockets to fight bacteria. ARESTIN is composed of minocycline hydrochloride to fight periodontal disease.

Please follow all instructions provided by our dentists after you leave our office. Following post-treatment care instructions and maintaining a thorough oral hygiene routine will maximize the effectiveness of your treatment and help your mouth heal.
